Tzu-Ling Hung

Tzu-Ling Hung is a solo percussionist, chamber musician, and composer based in Denton, Texas and Pingtung, Taiwan. Her practice moves through classical and contemporary music, with a particular pull toward experimentation, theatricality, and underrepresented voices.

Recent projects include tREeAL, a multimedia performance tracing the space between direct acoustic interaction and electronic effects, and HSS, a collaboration with David Stout and Colin Stokes. As a composer, she draws from the sounds and perceptions of daily life.

As a soloist, Hung won first prize in the 2024 American Soloist International Music Competition and was a semi-finalist in the International Marimba Competition at Chapman University and the International Percussion Competition at Northwestern University. With the UNT Percussion Ensemble, she won the 2025 PAS International Percussion Ensemble Competition.

Hung is completing a Doctor of Musical Arts at the University of North Texas, where she is a Teaching Fellow. She holds a Master of Music and Performer Diploma from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Taipei.
